Adaptive Re-Use with Vertical Farms
M.Arch Architects has partnered with landowners and developers to execute schematic designs for proposed re-use of existing of a riverside industrial steel foundry.
M.Arch Architects proposal included meetings with museum board of directors, city planners, developers, and even potential investors formerly members of the New York Yankees baseball team.
Two significant problems where architecture can play a helpful role responding to the covid-19 world epedemic are 1. stronger support for local economies 2. inefficient food production and distribution systems. M.Arch Architects is working closely with vertical farming companies and ag-tech consultants planning small and large farms within commercial buildings. Planning farms indoors, or plant factories is not trival. It often requires developing partnership economies to find the right tenant-factory mix. Schools, elderly care, existing retail uses, or as in this proposal a museum that will help educate public to healthier diets and more sustainable communities.
