Building Information Modeling, BIM, or Virtual Design and Construction VDC in hotel design can achieve meaningful results to hotel design, construciton, and operations. Here are a few reasons why BIM can achieve more:

  • Cost to make changes is greatly reduced
  • Communication among team members is enhanced
  • building operations is managed more effectively
  • responiveness to the community is enhanced

Community Board 2 representation is diverse, it includes members of the Chinese-American Planning Council (“CPC”), the 354 Broome Street Condo Board, Elizabeth St. Neighbors, Bowery Alliance of Neighbors (“BAN”), Bowery Block Association (“BBA”) and several other resident and buiness owner associations. Effective communication of the hotel project designs was achieved using building information modeling or BIM. The community board response was noticiably improved and more thoughtful, and responsive design achieved.

A particulary important aspect of the hotel's community responsive design is the hotel rooftop where a occupancy is prefered by the hotel and questioned by the community.

Community noise mitigation and safety is achieved through a thoughtful rooftop design meeting community goals and hotel business goals.

Amid the success and community approvals of our project designs, the world abruptly changed through impact of Covid-19 pandemic. At the time of this writing New York City is currenlty the most impacted city of this deadly virus.

Hotel occupancies having ceased a temporary shift in design focus is being achieved and design proposals achieved with an intermediate client of hospital, state, and federal government plan for pandemic respose using our BIM.

M.Arch team is thankful to the NYC mayor's office and office of Emergency management for rapid response efforts to serve the community health care needs and small businesses.

Information gathering and distribution of all building systems is key to upgrading endeavors by the government, businesses, and community.

Success for emergency situations is measured differently than design for leisure markets. Yet, good design and good communication remain timeless. Good design can serve spaces of trauma as well as reimagined spaces of luxury.
